Assume I established successfully a TV session to a remote computer.

Now I want to transfer some files to this remote computer. When I click "File transfer" then a popup appears telling me
something about "no write permissions on remote directory".

I assume its the users directory "D:\Documents and Settings\karl\..." on the remote computer. How can I tell TV NOT to use this default transfer directory for the receive of files but use a different one like

D:\worktmp

to which other users have write permissions.

I prefer a solution where only changes on the local TV installation are necessary.
If this is not possible then changes to the remote TV installation are accepatble as well.
If possible I would like to avoid change the WinXP/Win7 settings itself.

How can I achieve this?

Hi pstein,
you have to change this in your registry under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\TeamViewer\Version6 ==> FT_Start_Directories
Does it work now?

Thank you for the answer but when I look at the Registry values I can see something like:

3452353223?D:\tmp|D:\tmp

What does the first number mean?
What does the first and second path mean?

However it does NOT help. The path D:\tmp would be fine.
But the remote directory selection box does NOT start with the pre-selected D:\tmp but
with the remote global My Computer level. See the following attached snapshot:

How can I preselect D:\tmp as initial remote transfer directory?

Thank you
Peter

Hello,
Where do you want to make these changes? On the remote PC or on your local PC?
Did you try to change the register as mention before?

Mostly I want to do it locally. But occasionally I have to do it on the remote computer.
Register modification works somehow.
But again I wonder what the difference is between the fist and the second directory in the key value.

Can you tell me?
