Teamviewer for Windows / Autostart with Windows then close to systray
« Last post by hendis on June 29, 2022, 05:33:25 PM »
Hi to everybody and thanks to all that can help!

The title says it all. I want to start TV automatically, then minimize it to the systray.

I'm running TV 15.31.5 (32-bit) on a Windows 10 machine. I set up TV to start with windows, and then close to the systray. However, it is not executing as expected (if at all) every time. I have searched the TV Forums, but only found instructions for Win 7. I am running Win 10.

Currently, in TV:
   - In Menu-> Extras-> Options-> General, under "Most popular options", then under "Important options for working with TeamViewer", "Start TeamViewer with Windows" IS checked.
   - In Menu-> Extras-> Options-> Advanced-> Show advanced options, under "Advanced options for working with TeamViewer", then under"General advanced settings", "Close to tray menu" IS checked.

What else do I need to do?

Hi Folks,

When I right-click on the Teamviewer icon in the system tray, Windows notification area, I get a Windows alert sound. This wasn't always the case. How can I get rid of that alert sound?

It makes the default Windows Asterisk event notification sound.

Thanks,
Steven

Teamviewer for Windows / Connection from the same subnet
« Last post by walkingsk on October 11, 2021, 07:14:46 PM »
Hi guys,

There are a few questions on how teamviewer works.

1. When Teamviewer started with user logged in,  does it connect to some sort of Teamviewer servers to retrieve the "Computers and Contacts" list? Does a remote desktop connection actually depend on Teamviewer servers?

2. When both clients have IPs from the same subnet (lets say 112.65.x.x and 112.65.x.x, probably the same ISP), does a initiated remote desktop between such machines result in a relatively faster connection?

Thanks in advance anyone who answers.

There have been reports across different media outlets that folks are being timed out of teamviewer connections within 10 seconds to 2 minutes or being accused of commercial use when they are in fact not using the software commercially.

There are several fixes that have worked:
For windows users having the timing out issue the trick that seems to have worked is to download the interviewer APP from the Microsoft Store .
try the Microsoft store
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/teamviewer-remote-control/9wzdncrfj0rh?activetab=pivot:overviewtab
Install then run the app and sign in, all your remote systems will be listed, the GUI is slightly different but it works( or has been working without issue so far).

If that doesn't work you can try to manually change you Teamviewer ID:
https://theitbros.com/reset-teamviewer-id/

A last resolution that has worked for some and is more drastic and (honestly) questionable and a last resort , is to use a piece of software to reset your Team Viewer ID:
This is more of a HACK the requires some navigation through some sites to get the software.
Use this method at your own risk, ONLY YOU are responsible for anything that results in attempting this:
I have used a hack to reset it and seems to work for a week or so.

Read the comments for two other links for how to download and use, it can take a bit.

Teamviewer for Windows / Re: Can this be done?

All I'm finding is using Windows remote desktop, it seems if you upgraded each to windows 10 its doable:
Since Windows 7 is no longer supported it says windows 10 but steps may work with windows 7.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/how-to-use-remote-desktop-5fe128d5-8fb1-7a23-3b8a-41e636865e8c#connect-using-remote-desktop-connection=windows-7

Additionally, this article form parkland college indicates both W7/10
https://kb.parkland.edu/page.php?id=50610

I haven't looked into it deeply but it may be worth checking.

I know you don't want it on the internet, not sure if that is a privacy issue or logistics of getting internet...
if its internet availability you could create a hotspot on a phone or tablet device that each computer connects to and use Teamviewer.

Teamviewer for Windows / Can this be done?
« Last post by Greg_M on November 01, 2020, 03:13:11 PM »
I have an observatory with a telescope in it.
I need to run all the equipment in the observatory with the computer.
About 75' away is a small shack we call "the warm room".
What I want to do is hook both computers together with a single LAN cable.
I do not want this on the internet.
I want to sit at the computer in the warm room and run the computer in the observatory just as though I am sitting at the computer in the observatory with no internet involved.
I want to see on the monitor in the warm room, what is going on with the computer in the observatory.
I want to use the mouse in the warm room to click on stuff on the computer in the observatory.
I also want to use the keyboard in the warm room in the same fashion.

I have been trying to figure this out all day and have Teamviewer installed on both Win7 Pro computers, on the dining room table.
I have the controller computer hooked to the observatory computer through a switch.
Can I not use a switch or router?
So far it's not working.

Will/can this work like I want it to?
