TeamViewer 7 service failed to start
« on: September 21, 2012, 02:26:10 PM »
Hello,

I just installed Teamviewer 7 to my desktop pc and the service cannot start. I do check the Event Viewer and I see this: The TeamViewer 7 service failed to start due to the following error: TeamViewer 7 is not a valid Win32 application.
I'm running win7 ultimate 64bit

any ideas?

Right click the teamviewer icon
properties/compatibility and see if anything is see to run other than normal.
May just try to uninstall and reinstall.

Teamviewer executes,
the problem is with the service.

The service runs as "TeamViewer_Service.exe"

I did un-install reboot and re-install 5 times,
even tried to install it to different folders or paths

C:\Program Files (x86)\TeamViewer\Version7\
C:\Program Files (x86)\TeamViewer7\Version7\
C:\Program Files\TeamViewer7\Version7\

Nothing changes, the service cannot run.

I also tried the compatibility mode on TeamViewer_Service.exe but when I run it nothing happens.

service is set to "automatic"? in the services dialogue?
Sent a PM to the TeamViewer account( who i think is an actual TV support person) as well.

I've finally found the problem and the solution thanx to this article:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/812486

I've changed from the registry

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\TeamViewer7\ImagePath

C:\Program Files (x86)\TeamViewer\Version7\TeamViewer_Service.exe
to
"C:\Program Files (x86)\TeamViewer\Version7\TeamViewer_Service.exe"

and now it works fine, the service starts without any problem!
