Assume I run successfully at the remote site an older version of TV (service).
How can I install there a new version (without sitting physically in front of the remote computer) ?
Yes, I can download the newest TV version.
But in order to be able to install it I have to close/exit the current TV and hence have no more access
to the remote site to proceed with the installation.
How else can I do it?

Ive always just used the update tool within the old version, but i was finding that then i had two versions of TV installed.
then if i try to uninstall the old version i am told i must disconnect form TV to uninstall it.
Didn't make sense to NOT be able to uninstall the old version if i was running the newest version.
So the next time i am going to try this:
I am going to download the newest version directly form the TV website and save it to the remote machine and run the installer independently( remotely) instead of using the update tool.
I am going to set up the new install with a new TV Id and new password.
I think then i can go into the controls of the old version and uncheck "start with windows"
Then start the new version, and CHECK "start with windows" , reboot and see if i can access the remote machine with the new TV id and password.
THEN i will ru an uninstaller like REVO uninstaller and uninstall the OLD version

Hi pstein,
if you want to update TeamViewer on your remote computer, please use the option "remote update":
- Establish a connection
- Click on "Extras" in the tool bar
- Choose the function "Remote update"
After downloading the update your TeamViewer has to be closed, but after a few minutes you can reconnect to your remote computer with the same password.
If you update TeamViewer within version 6, it re-establishes a connection automatically. In version 5 this option is not available and you have to re-establish the connection by clicking on "Connect to partner" after a few minutes.
A requirement for this function is that TeamViewer on the remote side is configured for automatic start with Windows.

That didn't work, still says i have to stop team viewer when uninstaller an old version.
The TV team needs to figure out a way to uninstall old versions when upgrading to new version. I had one machine with TV 4 TV 5 and TV 6.

Hi,
you can only uninstall an older version if you are sitting right in front of it. Not during a remote session.
For updating to a newer version remotely you can use the options "Remote Update" (how I mention before).

Indeed, what Inga said seems to be the case, only more so.
These many years later, Tv now has an item 'Remote Update' in the local upper drop-down toolbar. The one inside the top edge of the remote window.
At first, I thought she meant the toolbar in the Tv application itself, but the Remote Update item was in the upper local toolbar - grey - under Extras, as she said.
I'll be trying RU from the toolbar later today, so wish me luck..
