Title: Monitor Driver installation fails
Post by: Tom Bradford on January 31, 2012, 03:22:48 PM

The remote computer is a Dell Latitude C620 laptop running Windows 2000 sp4, with TeamViewer 6.0.10722.

TeamView works perfectly well on the remote computer except that I want to black out the screen.   Trying to install the monitor driver for that purpose brings up a message that the installation failed and asks if I want to use "the fallback alternative".  Clicking yes to that merely results in another message that that installation failed.

Questions:

1.  Any ideas why the monitor driver installation should be failing?
2.  What is the "fallback alternative"?
3.  How do I know if the fallback alternative has taken effect?

In the alternative, I suppose I could set Windows ACPI to switch off the monitor after, say, 5 minutes of non-use.  Would disabling remote input then have the effect of  making it impossible to 'wake' the computer locally via the keyboard hence maintaining a black screen that way?

Thanks

Now have the newest on both machines; 7.0.12543.

Problem is still the same - the monitor driver will not install.  The 'fallback alternative" is still offered but I haven't been able to find out anywhere in the TV documentation what that is so am reluctant to effect it - especially as Windows triggered a close-down of TV on the remote machine because of an application error when I did it last!

Which end are you installing the monitor driver from?

I understand that you want the remote computer that you are logged into to go blank, but I think that you try to install the driver on that machine, or try to force it from the location that you are physically at?
So , which end?
