Title: HTPC connected to receiver through HDMI: black screen when receiver is off

I'm having huge issue when trying to connect to my HTPC through teamviewer. the HTPC is connected to the receiver, which is connected to a projector.
The teamviewer works perfectly when the receiver is on (projector doesn't have to be on), but when the receiver is off, the teamviewer screen just shows black screen.

anyone else experienced the same issue? If so, is there any workaround or does my receiver have to be on 24/7?

I appreciate any suggestions...

what kind of receiver?
Do you have video channeled through it?
does you receiver have a standby mode and have you tried  connecting while it is in that mode.
