Title: The Kaspersky Attack

I've been using TeamViewer for a few months (since LogMeIn went West).  Everything was working fine until today.  One of the people I use it to help with their computer called for help today, but we couldn't get Teamviewer to work.  It kept saying it was blocked by the Kaspersky virus checker.  Even after we unloaded it we kept getting the same error message.  I help him because he's not computer literate.  It's a catch22.  If I can't get Teamviewer working I can't fix whatever is keeping it from working.  

Anybody ever run into this?

while waiting for a response, try posting to the Teamviewer Facebook page, they tend to respond quicker sometimes, put in a support ticket as well.  links are in my sig and at the top of the forum.

I highlighted to ask, when you say unloaded it, did you use the add/remove programs options like Norton that has an additional software to remove it. you may have to find If Kaspersky has a removal software too.  Now also Did you also Check the firewall settings.  May I also suggest safe mode . You have not mention what you have steps you have taken, so if i have mention any you already done my sincere regrets.

Thanks but I got an answer after I submitted an support ticket. 

By unloaded I meant exited/ended the program (removed it from memory).  Exiting Kaspersky is all we had done.

In the Kaspersky settings, under "Service", you will find the option "Disable external service control". If Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 is used, this option will be in the parameter section and named "activate self-protection". Unfortunately this did not solve our problem.  A Kaspersky rep spent four hours on the phone with my friend and could not figure out how to resolve all the issues.  But, uninstalling Kaspersky entirely allowed Teamviewer to work.  But, now a novice is without virus protection.
