windows verification for VPN
« on: October 11, 2011, 07:13:42 AM »
Everything seems fine when I set up the VPN, but when I try to see the other computer's directory via my Explorer, I am asked for a password. What password is that and for which computer? Nothing I tried has been acceptable.

Do I need to have user accounts on both computers?

Sorry for being basic, I'm a VPN noob.

Thank you for your help.

Fairly certain you need to be entering a Windows user name and password that exists on the remote PC.

Thanks, but no that was not the problem. I did not have the directory properties set properly on the distant computer. It was a silly, novice mistake.  :-[

Cled,

Would you clarify your last statement, directory properties?? And I think I have gotten a connection (also a vpn newbie), and a windows explorer window pops up on my local computer with all my local files and drives?

I am playing around with it in an attempt to print a document from the remote computer to my local printer. No luck so far. :(
