find buddy's ip
« on: November 26, 2011, 04:54:14 AM »
hello

i'm new here, working with TV 2 years now, need some help in finding my buddy's ip.

i have 3 laptops i use to collect report data for my work field (mining) and they are like 100 km apart. and starting 1st of November, my ISP moved to Dynamic IP Protocol. My TV works great since it doesn't need the ip to connect, but i have other 3 apps that i need to run on target machines and trey were designed for ip connection.

Question ???: is there any way to find out the which i'm communicating with during a session? maybe from the log file or something? i must advise you that i don't own the laptops and they are restricted - no internet explorers or access to network settings (i've already tried that) ;D

Thank you in advance for a positive response.

Alin

If I understand the question correctly? --- Assuming you have established a TV session with a given remote, yes, you should be able to ascertain the remote's IP address(s).  run cmd.exe, at the dos prompt, type IPCONFIG/ALL and hit enter.  This will show all IP addresses for all network interfaces on that remote PC.

IPCONFIG /all will only show the local IP addresses, not necessarily the internet IP addresses, depending on how the internet is connected.

There are webpages like http://www.whatsmyip.org/ and http://http://ipchicken.com/ that will show the internet IP of any computer. You can access these pages on the remote computer to get the internet IP address of that remote computer.
