Some 'splaining to do....
« on: January 20, 2016, 02:34:29 PM »
I have to explain the state of acceptable use to a license holder. Please see if you can follow my logic and insert your IMHO addendums anywhere for clarification and exceptions.

Premium License allows for 1 user to be logged in using the license to any/all devices by the 9 digit assignment code that is given to a device when Team Viewer is installed to a device.

When the licensed user is logged in, that user can log into any device and "invite" a non licensed user to "join" a meeting via a meeting code. (Does inviting a "free user" to continue to use their "free user" profile and not block them from connecting to their own computers that are in their "free user" account?

If a current "user" updates their FREE version with the key, that local machine "9 number code" is held in Team Viewer servers as "belonging to the license" and if a free user logs into that machine, that user number is "known" by Team Viewer as belonging to that USER.
So, follow the logic.

   1. If you are a free license user, do not use your local machine to "log in" to a remote device with your current "free license" or both get added to TEAM VIEWERS logged list of devices that are assigned. You will get a "buy a license warning". If you use your free account to log into a machine that is in a "licensed user" list of devices, you may lose the opportunity to use your "free use" license anywhere else. I'm not sure if there is a fix for this.
   2. (this part is only "understood" by me as the case, I have not verified this clearly through support) If you need to get onto a machine that is assigned to a licensed user, have the licensed user invite you to a meeting so that (a) you are not trying to use a single channel license and (b) you are not having your local machine 9 digit number grabbed and then "placed into the licensed users list of computers" assigned to that "user".

So far so good? Anyone can add to this.

Just don't log in, unless you need to a) host a meeting, or b) connect to one of the machines on your account (irrespective of the licence that you have).

You can use both a free licence and a commercial licence on the same computer (if you detail 'both' on installation)
