Deployable TeamViewer Host App
« on: August 10, 2013, 02:40:34 PM »
I was wondering if anyone has used TeamViewer on Macs in an enterprise environment.  I currently support three to four hundred Macs and would like an easy way to deploy this software with Managed Software Update (Munki).  I have been talking to TeamViewer and they don't seem to have a solution at this point.  My goal is to deploy the software with a predefined password and have the IDs report back to the TeamViewer management console.  I'm thinking a post install script may be able to handle this.  If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

Thanks in advance!

I have been able to deploy the software using defaults write as a preinstall script.  This allowed me to enter our password via hexadecimal data.  To change the Title, text and logo I had to create an additional DMG file that runs as an immediate update for TeamViewer that overwrites the logo_host.tiff in TeamViewerHost.app and the Localizable.strings file in the en.lproj folder of the app.  The only thing I have left to determine is how to get TeamViewer to record the ID in the management console.  Once completed the app will be fully deployable via Managed Software Update (Munki).

Josh,

Would you be willing to share your preinstall script or how you managed to encode your password and which keys you set.

I'm currently trying to mass deploy TeamViewer here and noticed that the password is not carrying over with deployment.

Thanks!

Robert,

You can go here and see how to deploy TeamViewer http://jdmsysadmin.wordpress.org.  Please keep in mind that this is a major workaround and I think our voice needs to be heard with TeamViewer.  We need to tell them we want a deployable version.  Start placing tickets requesting TeamViewer Host be deployable for the Mac side.

Thanks,

Josh
