Unable To Install v9 Under Windows 7
« on: March 31, 2014, 09:35:54 AM »
I had it installed and it was working a-0k.

Had to re-image the PC and the image had TeamViewer 8 on it - which runs.

But when I try to upgrade to 9, the installer throws

TeamViewer 9 Setup
Error:
An error ocurred during the installation.  Installation Aborted

No error code, no other explaination.

I am running the install as Administrator.

Have tried two files:

TeamViewer_9_Setup_en.exe  (5,894 kB from back in January)

TeamViewer_Setup_en-ckj.exe (5,946 kB  - just downloaded)

Can anybody shed some light?

FWIW, I uninstalled v8 and then the v9 install worked.

I have the same error message when I attempted installing TeamViewer 9.  (TeamViewer_Setup_en-gsb.exe)
Nothing was logged to the Application Event Log.

---------------------------
TeamViewer 9 Setup
---------------------------
Error:
An error occured during the installation.
Installation aborted!
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

Can someone explain where I can look for clues on this?

It was McAffee...

Because I installed TV9 successfully a couple times, my annoyance with this issue led me to find this event message in the Application log which I overlooked...

Event Type:   Information
Event Source:   McLogEvent
Event Category:   None
Event ID:   257
Date:      7/15/2014
Time:      7:41:28 AM
User:      NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
Computer:   mycomputer
Description:
Would be blocked by access protection rule  (rule is in warn-only mode) (Common Standard Protection:Prevent common programs from running files from the Temp folder).

So it was McAffee that was blocking something in the C:\TEMP, even though:
- my system TEMP and TMP environment variables are both set to C:\Windows\Temp, and
- my user's TEMP and TMP are set to a TEMP folder in my user profile.
