TeamViewer does not launch
« on: November 18, 2013, 09:49:11 AM »
Hi all,

I've installed ver 8 on XP Pro.
When trying to launch I get small blue tray icon with a red exclamation mark on it.
Ater 2 seconds it disappears from tray and task manager, program does not launch.
Please kindly help.

(How can I attach/upload a logfile to forum messages?)

Thanks.

does that computer have internet access?
Under what level of user did you install TeamViewer?

Yes, it has internet access.
It was working flawlessly on this machine, installed by a user with administrator rights.

The only time that I had seen this was when TV was installed as a non-admin user

If this is not the case, you should lodge a ticket with the official TV support (This forum is fan run, and is not official support)

Dear all,
I had exactly the same problem. After a long test, I managed to find a temp solution for my case.

The situation is :
- Chinese XP Home and TV9
- Teamviewer.exe (i.e. the TV Client) started and got killed instantly
- Teamviewer_service.exe stayed alive
- Other PC could not connect to this PC
- in log, lines "API: The API is not registered with Windows." and "Error! TeamViewer terminated unexpectedly!" are founded.

temporary solution :
- right click on the TV icon, goto Compatibility > Input Settings > disable advanced lang service

Now you can use this icon link to start the TV interface.

Good luck.

This is a good workaround.
It helped me too, but it still a workaround!
Now I need to connect TV twice:
1) when the PC is in logon stage - I can TV to it and fill in the login password - then the XP loads and TV gets killed before reaching the Desktop.
2) Next,  I had to put TV in the Startup folder in Program Files for it to launch automatically again after logon finished (with the 'disable advanced lang settings' checked) so I can TV the now up and running desktop again.

Gees, that took me some 8 month to resolve.
Thanks jujuhonny !
TV support - please keep track on this case till hopefully resolved.

Re: TeamViewer does not launch - SOLVED!

OK - Finally solved the problem:
Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Regional -> Languages Tab -> Details -> Advanced Tab -> uncheck 'Extend support...'

Voila! - TV launches and stay active in background.

Thanks again all,
Peace.
