Authentication rejected problem
« on: April 02, 2015, 05:43:42 AM »
Having used TeamViewer for some years on the same machines, it has started to give trouble - I frequently get the "authentication rejected" message when connecting to one (Windows 7) PC at home that I used to be able to connect to from the office without any problems. One day I did connect in the morning but not later on in the day. The PC shows no other general problems of any sort. It is a high-end Dell laptop. It is left on constantly and has a screen inactivity timeout but no timed screen lock i.e. I come back home, hit any key or move the mouse and all is as-was. No-one but me uses the 'remote' PC. The PC has two screens connected (ext one via HDMI).

Today I got home and managed to catch the problem with my own eyes, and tried connecting from another laptop, and failed. On the "remote" machine (though now in same room) the screen was on (NOT timed out) and was showing the TV window, but that window alone was black apart from the Partner ID box and had the 'busy' mouse pointer. In this state, I still failed to connect with the second laptop (I got auth rej msg). I had not touched the keyboard or mouse.

When I did nothing more than move the mouse on the 'remote' PC, the screen suddenly went black (as if upon a timeout). When I then tried to connect from the other PC, I had no problem at all and could repeatedly connect.
I then disconnected and let the screen inactivity timeout take place and tried reconnecting with the 'remote' screen being black. I could connect ok.
Any help with this would be appreciated. There is obviously no actual credentials problem at all (they are all stored in my TV account) but there might be a video problem?

Thank you.

Hi!
I have been experiencing a similar problem as jastewart described.
I upgraded to team viewer 10 a while ago on my pc/windowsXP.
This past week Ive been trying to connect with my computer via ipad, iphone, and a different pc with no success at all, and all I get is the "authentication rejected" message.
I uninstalled and reinstalled team viewer 4 times, and even erased any file that hadn't been erased.
I don't know what else to do, any help would be very much appreciated!

To Admin - no, Android is not involved - all machines are running Windows. The host (remote) machine is Windows 7 x64 (Dell laptop) and I tried connecting from a Windows 7 desktop and Windows 8 laptop with same results, and also from a remote location (office) and from within the same home network. I did also try from my phone (Android with TV installed) with same results. The problem is not specific to Android though.  Perhaps a log file would shed some light?
Regards.

The problem seems to have 'gone away'. I updated TV (I thought it was up-to-date; the update was a minor one) and did a full Windows update, including video drivers and so far the issue has not returned.
There was never any authentication problem - it would help if the actual problem could be reported with greater accuracy, if possible.
