I'm using TeamViewer 10 to help my mother in another city with her computer issues. We both have Windows 8.1 laptops.

The way we do things is that she Skypes me when she needs help, then I talk her through starting TeamViewer. (That's gotten a lot easier know that we've done it a few times; initially, I had to coach her on how to launch TeamViewer.) Anyway, once we're connected, I inevitably get a rather unpleasant amount of feedback. I can eliminate virtually all of it by clicking on the  menu option that enables computer sounds so that the check mark goes away.

Is there any way that I can make TeamViewer start with "enable computer sounds" UN-checked? That would make the whole experience a lot pleasanter since I wouldn't have to first endure the screeching of the feedback....

Am I missing a subtlety in your answer? Because it sounds like you're recommending what I'm already doing: manually turning off the Computer Sounds on the remote computer once TeamViewer has started.

I was hoping to find a way to ensure that the remote computer started with that Computer Sounds option UNCHECKED (i.e. off) from the moment the remote user clicks on the TeamViewer icon.  Is that possible, perhaps via some kind of preferences setting or a batch file that it would read on startup?
