Disabling the real-time transfer log window
« on: September 24, 2015, 06:58:27 AM »
Hello. I am commonly transfering files between my computers as I work as graphic designer and need to share minor files randomly without knowing I would need them before leaving my PC. When I leave my house, kids are usually going on to my PC and play games. Whenever I transfer a file, the file transfer log pops up to the most-front position except windows apps like Task Manager, which have priority of staying in front. Whatever kids play, Java or Browser games, the windows pops in front or even minimizes the full-screen game down.

This is just an example of what is happening. There are also times I transfer my private files and don't want anyone from my house reading the file path. They are not really computer-based nerds ( :D ), but they would be interested in the file path from the log when walking around. I can't log-off my computer when I leave nor switch users since most games kids play are installed for my user account only, and some of them needs to be launched as Administrator, and I'm not giving them the password (but they don't need it when they're logged on my account).

What I need: I need the transfer log window NOT to pop up when I begin transfer / transfer / disconnect from the PC. I need to transfer my files anytime without even letting the current person on my PC know I am transfering my files. Not only to hide the file paths, I need to disable the whole window. The log can stay on the PC, I don't mind the log file saved deep in folders, I mind the real-time transfer log.

I would be really thankful for anyone replying me without giving me alternative methods of file transfering or windows user-accounts switching etc.

Is there any way of modifying the libraries or tweak the program to not show the log in real-time? I am logged to the same account of TeamViewer on both PCs.

Thank you for replies,
-A

You are worried about what your kids may see in terms of file paths, but you let them play games logged on as an administrator...

I think that you need to re-think your entire security setup.

If you need random files from your computer at home, set it up for FTP protocol (with username and password, but accessible from internet) or for set files create a web server on your home computer and have a directory of 'downloads'

Hey, thanks for the reply.
What is "set up for FTP Protocol", I mean, how does it work? Do I do that in TeamViewer or another software?

other software

IIS >> https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc771012%28v=ws.10%29.aspx
Thid party software >> https://filezilla-project.org/

Not for the meek. You will have a high learning curve either way

Thank you, after hard try I've set up a HTML access to my public IP thru HTTP File Server and directories I've assigned, I can turn the server on and off thru teamviewer. Needed some tutorial to set up everything, but it's all done and working (tested thru kproxy.com, it firstly didn't work for me before I've read that most routers doesnt support loopback).

PS: Yes, I know it's potentionally accessible by public, but SEO can't search for my index file and I have dynamic IP, not dangerous for these 5 min imo.
