Author Topic: Uninstalling/Reinstalling TV11, screen comes up.....no ID and no pass  (Read 3747 times)

Hello, and thank you for letting me on here.

Well folks there it is in the subject line:  I was using teamviewer 11 to remote in to my Pastor's Computer to help them with some viruses. 

They had Win10 home, and the only way to get windows defender back up, was to either regedit a setting or get group policy editor back up.

Well, going for gpedit first, since it was win 10 home, I downloaded the installer from here: h--p://drudger.deviantart.com/art/Add-GPEDIT-msc-215792914.....

and poking around to get it to work, it finally did.

but going to the setting for windows defender in GPedit.msc : Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Windows Defender... it was NOT THERE.... 

so I did the regedit from here:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows Defender and DID NOT DISABLE IT, just switched disable to "0"

and that's when defender came back on.

Did one scan, then updated definitions, did another scan. everything seemed alright.....

then from remote, rebooted.

Waited for Teamviewer to reconnect.....and waited....and waited.....and waited......and that's when I called over to my pastor and asked what happened?

turns out Defender was automatically attacking a setting in win/sys32 as a trojan.  And it looked like one of the settings that I downloaded from h--p://drudger.deviantart.com/art/Add-GPEDIT-msc-215792914 : I knew maybe I should not have downloaded it from there..... as it is still in her C:\windows\temp\directory

Well, bottom line: firing up teamviewer will not bring up ID or PASS for my Pastor to tell me.
and uninstalling it, and reinstalling it......same thing.....no ID....and no PASS......

My Pastor's upset....and her husband's upset.....and I'm upset.

So....I'm coming over here.....hoping MAYBE there's a stupid simple fix that I forgot...

I'm suspecting that somewhere Teamviewer is still in Memory when a SECOND COPY gets reinstalled, (as that could probably be the case)
OR something wrong with the firewall connection ( I did check THAT....and it's allowed in Windows Firewall Pub and Private, although I want to go back and fix that....

......or perhaps I have to MANUALLY fire up teamviewer from a console screen with a preset ID and Pass....and if THAT's the case...
then that's what I gotta do.....

any idea guys?

Well, Never mind, folks, looks like Pastor did a system restore, and everything came back....all that work for nothing.  :(
