TeamViewer window freezing (but not crashing)
« on: July 18, 2016, 11:51:14 AM »
I've had the following problem before, and it seems to have stopped for a good long while, but now for some reason it's started up again:

When I open and connect a TeamViewer window to a host computer, it will stay active for anywhere from 10 seconds to maybe a couple minutes, but in the end the TeamViewer window will freeze video activity.  This doesn't mean the connection itself is bad though, because it seems it will still send key signals (i.e. typing, etc).  I know this because the next time I connect to the host computer, I can see the new keyboard entries.

I can't simply close the window, because then it will be unable to connect.  The only solution I've found is to end the process in Windows and restart TeamViewer.

Any idea what is causing this?  No hardware or software changes on the laptop.  On the host computer a new graphics card was installed over the weekend, however I've had this issue previously as well on the prior configuration.

certainly seems graphics card related

update drivers for the new card, and reinstall Teamviewer on the host and see if that improves this for you

Actually it seems magically the next day at work, everything seemed to be working again.  I didn't touch my computer at home, and didn't even restart my computer at work either.  Since then it seems to be running normally for now...

As I recall, the last time this happened, it also resolved by itself without any intervention on my part...

I have been suffering from this problem for a while. It's not a video card issue. In fact the problem seems to be with the target PC and not with the source PC.

The source PC can send commands to the target PC and they will be correctly executed, however, the target PC is not sending video or sound to the source PC. I have a number of PC's, and this happens the same way with all of them. Teamviewer will run for a random number of minutes then suddenly the video will stop updating for five to ten minutes. Equally just as sudden it will continue and work as if nothing had happened. The quick way to fix the freeze is to drop and re-open the teamviewer link, but it is incredibly inconvenient because you have to do it often. I would add that this only happens when the target PC is running a video.

This started to happen about a year ago. Before that it was all flawless. Then, suddenly, the issue appeared on all my PC's at the same time, and has not been resolved with new releases of drivers or Teamviewer. It's a real pain, becuase  it means you have to break and re-make the connection once every five minutes or so.
