Security Concerns
« on: September 20, 2011, 10:42:49 PM »
Using Cports, I noticed random ip connections established with teamviewer application. IP addresses appear to be residential internet users. At first I thought someone had just entered in the wrong access id and was trying to get to another system.

I reconsidered this after the connection would quickly re-establish to the same IP after being closed. I would close the connection, then remote host almost immediately would re-establish the connection. After a few cycles of closing and re-establishing, the IP address would change to another residential IP address.

I believe this may be a hacker using a botnet to gain access to my system and attempting to use Teamviewer as the gateway. I was using Teamviewer 6. I don't remember the precise version but it was not the latest version.

Has anyone else experienced this or something like it? I would like to continue using the software but am wary of the security risk. Any advice or input on this issue would very much be appreciated.
