Having trouble connecting to friends computer
« on: August 19, 2012, 05:51:53 PM »
Both computers running Windows 7 and both using Teamviewer v7.

I have a broadband cable connection and have connected to other computers before with no problem.

My friends computer is connected to the internet using a Verizon 4G Wireless modem.

Once he installed Teamviewer, he provided me the ID and password which we verified. When I try to connect, I get a message: The Teamviewer ID: XXXXXXXXX you have entered does not exist.  Again, had him reverify the ID and retried the connection; same message.

If anyone has any suggestions on what might be the issue and how to resolve it,  I'd appreciate hearing from you.

at the risk of stating the obvious, make sure you are not using any spaces when you enter the id.

Make sure your friends system is not hibernating when you try to connect and make sure they have an active connection with the 4g

Nah, no spaces in the ID.   Friends system was not hibernating as I was on the phone with him directing him how to locate, download and install Teamviewer 7 which we didn't have any problems with.

To me there are only two possibilities:
1) Teamviewer doesn't work with wireless which I'm not familiar with as I've never tried that before.
or
2) We both have McAfee Internet Security installed.   Maybe that needs to be configured to allow the connection.

ive connected to many wireless systems so that shouldn't be the issue.
You might check into the McAfee, trying turning it off and rebooting both systems and see if you can connect.

Have you tried having your friend connect into your computer then using "Switch sides" to swap the display?

Make sure that the windows firewall is allowing teamviewer access and that McAfee is also either allowing access or is temporarily disabled to try to allow the connection.
