Password issue
« on: February 17, 2014, 03:43:28 PM »
Hello everyone.

Just new to Team viewer, another expatriate from LogMeIn.

Need some help here for security/password.

I've installed TeamViewer on my home, work and some family member computers so far. I need to have access to these computers with no actions taken from the other end user so had to set 'full access' on all those computers. I therefore can access and modify any of those computers at any time.

To do that however I need to install Teamviewer on those computers AND have them auto-login with my user name. So basically, ANY of those computers have full access to all the other computers which I certainly don't like.

I would like a way that, although being log-in with my account, any attempt at login onto another computer prompt for a password so that Aunt Whatever can't come and mess-up my work computer etc.

(I bit like logmein, I can get into my account and see the status of all computers that I can access but still need a password to actually get ON those computers).

I seem unable to find any way to do that.

Please help

Thank you

It sounds to me like you want to be able to access each of the remote computers without them being able to access yours.

Pretty basic setup, you need to assign a personal password on each of the OTHER computers.( you can use the same one if you want for each)
you want t initially log into their computer using the ID then give you and the random password it generates.
using thre connection you have made, open the teamviewer window on their machine by clicking the TV icon, it will open a window.

navigate to Extras > Options.
Now, go to the Security tab and change the password under ‘Permanent Password for Unattended access’.
enter the password twice.

Below that look for "rules for connection to this computer" /windows logon choose "allowed for all users" form the drop down.
Click "Ok"

Do this for each of the computers you want to control, keep track of the Teamviewer ID?password you chose.
when you are done assigning passwords:
On your end all you need then is the teamviewer ID and the password you set up as noted above.

On your computer open Teamviewer, click on computer and contacts in the lower right of the teamviewer screen and add their system( you will have to create an account for yourself to log in).
You can add their computer and password by clicking on the little icon of a person with a + sign and choose "add remote computer" once you are done( choose an alias also to identify them..IE "mom") anycompuetr the is online will appear in the list when you sign on.

just choose and identity, double click and it will log in.

They will not be able to access your system.
Let us know how this works or if there is an issue.

Hello.

Thank you for the fast reply but I either did not explain myself correctly or missing an important point.

Here's what I've done so far:

- I've installed teamviewer on several computers. It is my understanding that for those computer to be accessable from my account, I need them logged-in my account. Therefore all of those computers are logged in as if I was in front of them, having full access to my teamviewer account and all the computers linked to this account.

Therefore uncle whatever can access the computer of aunt whatchacallit and any of the other ones.

Once I am logged in I have full access to any computer on my list, I am not asked for any password whatsoever when I click on a computer although I did put a password on all of them in Permanent Password for Unattended access. My guess is that my ACCOUNT itself has the password so log me automatically.
