Inconsistent screen res on LAN
« on: February 25, 2014, 02:52:15 PM »
I mainly use TeamViewer for accessing the 'main' PC from my laptop.  Laptop is Win 7 Pro 64-bit, PC is Win 7 Ult 32-bit.  TeamViewer is version 7.  Sometimes when I connect to the PC it displays on the laptop at the PC's native screen res of 1280 x 1024.  That's fine, but other times it will display the PC at a lower res, 1024 x 768 and that causes the icons on the PC's desktop to rearrange themselves which is a bit of a nuisance.

Is there anything I can do about this?

Is it different when the monitor of the desktop is powered off?

Don't know, haven't tried it, but will tomorrow.  If it stops this effect I could change power settings to turn monitor off after x minutes, though would like to find a solution that doesn't require that.

I find that if a monitor is connected (even asleep) that TV connects at that monitor's resolution. If there is no monitor the default resolution is small, but can be set in properties in computers and contacts...
