Teamviewer 9 Free - Install Issues
« on: March 06, 2014, 08:58:02 AM »
Hello,

A couple of weeks ago I installed Teamviewer on my home computer.  Soon after, I also installed it on my laptop so I could access my home computer when I was away from home.

About 2 weeks ago, the version on my laptop started showing a popup window called "TeamViewer trial" which said my trial had expired.   I wasn't sure why I was seeing this as I thought I had downloaded the free version and selected the Personal option during install.   There was a link on this window called "extend the trial period" which I clicked for a couple of days and allowed me to continue.  Unfortunately, now whenever I click this "Expired" link, a text file opens with some HTML text and I can't use Teamviewer to connect to my home computer.  Also, I just checked the application on my home computer and it says "Trial Version, 1day remaining".

At this point, I don't know how to proceed.  Have I possibly downloaded the wrong version of the product?  Am I only allowed to run one install if I choose the personal use option?  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for the quick response.  I believe I had originally downloaded the installer from the page you linked to.  From memory, the version I downloaded was the one from the green "Free Download" image which was 9.0.26297.

Just in case, I uninstalled the application, re-downloaded the setup program and now when I run it there is no option for Personal/Private use!  The only options I see on the setup screen are:

1) Basic Installation
2) Installation to access this computer remotely (unattended)
3) Run only (one time use)

I just came across something.  I just ran the installer on an old laptop that runs Windows XP and I now see the "How do you want to use Teamviewer" options!

My laptop and home computer that I installed it on are both running Windows Server 2012.  Could this be the issue?  The weird thing is I'm sure I was given the option to choose Personal Use the first time I installed it on my home computer.

The server edition could be the issue, try posting to their facebook page and see what they say there.
