missing "My computers" name
« on: October 23, 2014, 03:15:27 PM »
In the Teamviewer console, under "Computers & Contacts", there is a list of all my machines that I can connect to, in a list under "My computers". Strangely, one computer on my list has quite suddenly lost its name.  There is just a display screen icon (as for the others) and a "--" following it, instead of a name. Now, when I click on that icon, I connect just fine. Where's the name? Why did it lose it? I tried closing TV, and logging back in to my TV account, but that one computer name is still missing. Do I need to restart TV on the remote machine to get it back?

Rebooted remote computer. No joy. The alias (that's what the name is called) was still missing. So I went to the Management Console, which also didn't have an alias for that computer anymore, and I just entered the original alias. Now everything is normal.

The bottom line is that TeamViewer, by itself, managed to blow off an alias for one of my machines. It just erased the alias. I didn't do it.
