TeamViewer not running on partner computer - but it is!
« on: April 16, 2015, 05:09:11 AM »
Hello,

I installed TV on a machine in the office of a friend, and wanted to control it from my home PC. I entered the ID shown on the office's computer, but when I click the "Connect to a partner" button on the "Remote Control" tab of the TV interface, I get a message pop up saying "TeamViewer not running on partner computer"

I have checked the other computer, and TV is definitely running. I've seen comments around that TV doesn't require you to add a firewall rule, but am not sure if this is correct. It could just be that their firewall is blocking it, but I don't know how to tell.

Anyone able to advise? Sorry if I've missed out anything important, please let me know and I'll add whatever's needed.

Thanks in advance.

Perhaps his office blocks TeamViewer connections - many corporate networks do that
Does the office end show as connected at that end?

Hello, thanks for the reply.

Pardon my ignorance, but could you tell me how I find that out?

Sorry, was that supposed to answer my question? I asked how I can tell if the office end shows as connected.

I think the answer to your question is yes, as when I look at that machine, I can see TV running, however I woudl like to be sure I've got this right.

Please clarify how I confirm it's running.

Thanks

On the office machine

Open teamViewer

On the bottom left hand corner of the teamviewer window is a connection status.

Green means that it is connected

Sorry for the delay in replying, it's taken me some time to get chance to go to his office and look.

Anyway, TeamViewer is definitely running, and there is a green bar in the bottom left corner with the message "Ready to connect (secure connection)"

The odd thing is that I just tried again, and it connected without problem! I didn't touch anything or change anything. Oh well, all's well that ends well, even if I don't know why!

Thanks for the help.
