Hey guys,
I'm trying to do something a little odd. I turned an old netbook into a console for a security camera (essentially a cheap webcam mounted up somewhere high).
I wanted to be able to set the netbook somewhere, and access it through TeamViewer (because it's kinda out of the way to access).
I have changed the power settings so that when the lid is closed it doesn't hibernate or sleep or anything. The problem I am having is that when I close the lid, and try to access it through TeamViewer, the wifi shuts off, and TeamViewer loses access.
Some notes and things I've done already:
- I've gone into the Device Manager and into the Power Settings for the Network Adapter and unchecked the box "Allow computer to turn off Network Adapter to save power" (or something like that).
- Again, all power settings make it so that the computer does not hibernate, sleep, or turn off, ever if it is plugged in. I have tested that this works.
- When I just close the lid, and open it again, the wifi connection still works, so it doesn't seem to be just the action of closing the lid. It's the combined action of closing the lid, AND trying to access it through TeamViewer that seems to trigger the wifi disconnection.
- I can access it through TeamViewer just fine when the lid is open.
This is an Asus Eee Netbook PC, running Windows 7.
For some reason I could have sworn that it used to work too. Any tips? Anyone encounter anything similar?
