Blocking other TeamViewer versions?
« on: January 14, 2016, 03:36:34 AM »
Hello,

Before christmas we had some trouble with some employees connecting to their work PCs from home. Whilst this is a HR case we have decided to try and shut off remote access. I have blocked all known Remote Desktop-apps in our appcontrol and done some port managing to block off some others. We need to use TeamViewer to assist and support our employees on 28 locations, but when it isnt blocked, our employees are able to install an older version of TeamViewer next to the host and connect to that from home. While we could block all access from outside the domain, we sadly also have to allow developers of our softwares to access PCs from TV, and therefore we cant block it from outside the domain. Is there any way you can setup teamviewer to negate other installations or similar to prohibit this?

Seems like the issue has been resolved by applying a policy to the host that enables password protection on settings and disallows closure of the application. You cant install another instance of teamviewer whilst the new is installed and you cant close teamviewer to uninstall it.

You can also use the block list in settings, and block outgoing connections

Extras >> Options >> Security >> Rules for connections to this computer
Extras >> Options >> Advanced >> Advanced Settings for connections to other computers >> Access control >> Deny outgoing remote control sessions
Extras >> Options >> Advanced >> Teamviwer Options >> Changes require administrative rights on this computer
Extras >> Options >> Advanced >> Teamviwer Options >> Protect options with password
