Sending keys remotely to play a game

I have a problem with Teamviewer. Sending keys works fine in say, Notepad or Word.

However, when I try to send keys while playing a game, it kinda doesn't work. Well, it works, but the key is pressed 1 time every 2 seconds which makes it kinda useless.

Is there any way to fix this or is this because I'm trying to play a game over TeamViewer. (I suspect it's the latter)
