Is there a way to force teamviewer to use the local network?
« on: August 03, 2016, 03:37:51 AM »
When I log on to the teamviewer servers all my PC's appear and I can connect to any of them. The only problem here is that they are actually all in the same building and I really want them to connect to each other only using the local network, because it's obviously very silly to connect via the internet when there isn't any need. It's taking up bandwidth and slowing things down when it doesn't have to. I know that it is possible to allow lan connections, but as far as I know there is no way to specify that a partner is local and a local connection should ALWAYS be used. I mean I don't want to have to manually enter a partner ID each time just to get it to use the local network. It would be OK to use the existing method IF ONLY I could reference them by name rather than an ID number but as far as I can see that isn't possible?

Extras -> Options -> General -> Network Settings -> Incoming LAN connections

Change it to "accept".  By default, it is set to "deactivated".  You can then access it by IP or hostname.  However, you cannot add the computer to a group using IP or hostname.
