Teamvierwer 11 > Windows 10 Anniversary Edition
« on: November 04, 2016, 05:22:30 PM »
This was brought to my attention by a client. He's been using Teamviewer to connect to his work machine for some months now. However since a new machine went in a fortnight back, he's been unable to do so, unless the machine is in a 'logged on' state. Meaning he's unable to connect and then login.

His old machine used TV v.9 and was running a 32bit version of Windows 10 (an upgrade from 7). As a test he 'signed out' a staff members PC (identically configured to his old machine) and then attempted a remote login with TV and logged straight in.

We compared all the settings in TV between the two machines and are certain they're as similar as possible.

I have been able to repeat the test with my desktop and my laptop. With my desktop having the Anniversary update installed, the laptop not. What I did find was that when the sign in password box is up, TV will function. But on the lock screen, not a chance.

Clues?

If I understand you correctly, Pristle, a client of yours is unable to log in (Sign in these days) to a host work Win10 computer from the lock screen.

I've seen a similar thing when Tv attempts to blacken the host screen. I've seen, from the remote side, irregular flashing between desktop and lock screen on the host, quickly offering PIN code entry and then a signed in desktop, repeated.  ::)  This happens only when Disable remote input/Black remote screen are selected - without Tv's video driver installed (there's no information on what it might do to the standard graphics driver, nor how to remove it).

So I'd first ensure that the 'blacken remote' ISN'T chosen; that way I believe you'll be best able to see the screen you want to see.

Report back.

Wow, I expected to see lots more in this thread...I have the exact same issue and it is a major fail.  If it appears while you are away from the site of the remote, there IS NO WAY TO CORRECT IT.

IN my case I have one machine I very infrequently log into.  If that machine ever restarts (such as when Microsoft updates it)--thus ending up in a not-logged-in state--there is no way to get into it remotely; see pic

And as original poster says, this all started when the machine got the anniversary update.

Oh, I know blacken remote is not ON, as it does not go black when I connect.  So that is not what is causing it.

ADDED: Here is where I beg that anyone with some ideas please chime is as this is a showstopper. Is there an earlier version of TV I can get that works with Windows 10 anniversary?

Hmmm....no inputs,  I am in a fix.

I tried to install TVv9 on that machine, but it failed simply with an error like "There was an error--installation aborted."
