How to Increase File transfer speed

Hey Does anyone know how to increase file transfer speed. I can only get a max speed of 60k per sec.

I am using a friends pc to connect to mine at home.

we are both cable internet.

Any ideas how to increase the speed.

i already set teamviwer to optimize for speed and not quality. It didnt change the speed at all.

It takes an hour just to transfer 200 megs.

what is it you are trying to transfer? and how often?

I was just testing how the file transfer. I was trying to transfer a tv show that was 200 megs.

It maxes out at 60k.

I probobly will be using it every now and then.

im testing a 285 MB file right now and i am getting 140 kB/s (32 minutes).
more than twice your speed so something is amiss...
could be your or the remote machines connection i suppose.
you/they on cable or DSL?

Also, check Extras/options/advanced/show advanced options
scroll down to advanced network settings and check to see if use UDP IS check-marked( recommended)

Yea i did that already still 60k.

I dont understand why my computer is preventing it from going above 60k.

You sure it's not the other person's connection? a 10mb connection is usually limited somewhere around 90KBps upstream and 1MBps down stream. But remember if your're transferring FROM your home to your mates PC then that's upstream..

I do notice that it seems slow as i have 2 dedicated 1gb internet connections to 2 dedicated servers i have aqt work and even downloading from them max's out at around 1MBps even although if i put a file on the webserver or FTP i get around 3-4MBps

It used to always max at 240KBps a while ago until i got Teamviewer 7

Run a check on speedtest.net.  What is your upload speed?  Also, a third party software such as Dropbox may be a better solution for file transfer.

I see Teamviewer haven't solved the problem yet.
I tried to transfer files between 2 computers with very a good speed connection and the speed is still limited to 140kB/s.
If I try the same with two FTP, or with a Peer to Peer program or with telenet I can transfer the same files almost 100 times faster, thus is not a problem of the connection, it seems that Teamviewer has capped the speed for some reason.

I'm having problems with transfer speed.
Im transfering large file over the internet. Both computers are connected to internet through fiber optics (100 Mbit) but my transfer speed is topping at 120kB/s.

At the end I have cancelled transfer, set the FTP server on one computer and uploaded file with 7 MB/s (megabytes, not megabits).

I presume that file transfer goes through teamviewer server and that limit's speed (my speed was suspiciously rounded to 120k) so the question is how to setup direct connection for fast transfers?

I know I'm waking up an old forum here but that's because I'm having a similar issue. I was just recently setup with a 10Mb upload connection and I'm uploading at about 1.5Mbps, about 10% of what my connection is capable of. I've verified this with online speed tests and other misc. tests. Currently I can see traffic moving out at about 1 to 1.5Mbps.
The receiving end is capable of 6 to 12Mbps.
Has anyone managed to figure out anything in regards to the speed issue?

This is a limit of the TCP protocol

Try the use UDP setting in advanced network settings if you haven't already.\
You may also need to allow UDP through your firewall and router

TCP is normally the only protocol enabled for most NAT connections

That doesn't sound right because the internet operates on the TCP/IP protocol and I can pull data at 100Mb/s from other sources. Using UDP you'd be risking data corruption if a packet gets lost or dropped.
If it's a limit it's doubtfully because of the TCP protocol but a limit within the application to be able to do check sums fast enough while using TCP

So I guess the answer is TeamViewer is unable to send faster than 1.5Mb/s while using TCP. Something that should be addressed with updates and upgrades as most users these days are starting to get internet connections that are capable of uploading at rates of 2 to 20Mb/s and in some places 1Gb/s.

It has nothing to do with your internet speed. We're switching from LogMeIn so we have an overlap. I can transfer 200mb on LMI in the time it takes to transfer 2mb on TeamViewer -  same connection, same machines, same time frame. What decade is this?
With this speed issue just being discovered, we are rethinking our switch.
C'mon guys, it's 2016 already.

Maybe the problem is the university/company's proxy limiting the speed.
