Can someone walk me through this, please?
« on: January 21, 2012, 07:39:22 PM »
Good evening, folks.  Thanks for letting me join you.

I have a Windows 7 laptop, a Windows 7 Desktop, and a Windows XP desktop.  I also have an iPhone, an iPad, and an iPod.  Of course, each computer or device will have to have TV installed.

1. Must each one have its own account, or do I just set up one master account on my Desktop computer?

2. If i use the same account on all the computers/devices, I will use the same user name and password on any device I log in with, right?

3. Let's say I wish to log onto my Windows 7 desktop from a remote location with my iPad.  What exactly are the steps for doing that?

4. What state do I have to place my "slave" computer in if I wish it to be available for remote log on?

Thanks for your assistance.

I'm guessing that this is not for one off use, but for repeated use...correct?

I use the paid varsion, so I am unsure if the steps are the same, but I suspect that they will be.

1. I created ONE account
2. correct, although one account password doesn't mean that all computers are accessed via same password - they can be set individually. Common password gives you access to your account, which is a list of your known computers and contacts.
3. a) Leave TeamViewer (Tv) running on your windows 7 desktop
   b) Start Tv on your laptop
   c) Click 'Computers and Contacts' bottom right
   d) double click on the relevant entry for your desktop

Pretty easy huh. You can also set defaults for each contact, and even set password for computers, or resolution, or which screen is default etc
4. You need to leave the computer switched on and a user logged on with Tv running.
(If you had the paid version you could use the Remote Host component, in which case the slave computer just needs to be turned on - not with anyone logged on)

Thanks, Matt.  Looks as if I wasn't that far off base in what I had been trying.  This morning I looked more closely and saw some small print in the bottom left of the TV window.  It said, "You are blacklisted or not whitelisted by this computer".  Hmm.  OK.  So how do I change that?

Thanks!

I've not been blacklisted or used  that feature yet, but ...
On the 'other' computer

Extras >> Options >> Advanced Options
There is a button 'clear list of blocked accounts'
Try that

Also in
Extras >> options >> Computers and contacts
There is a 'configure' button blacklist

Good luck
