Still hoping for an answer to my VPN question

I posted a question almost a week ago now about how I can install a program on the remote computer via the VPN. A number of people have viewed it but no one has made any attempt to answer it.

Is that because my question is poorly worded and you don't understand what I want? Or because the question is really hard and no one knows the answer? I'm really eager to get an answer on that question but without any answers - or even a request for clarification - I'm not sure how to get my answer....

In a nutshell, I've got a game on a CD here at my place that I want to install on my  mother's computer in another city. If I were in her city, I'd just put the CD in her drive and click install. How do I accomplish the same via TeamViewer? It doesn't need to be with a VPN; any technique will do. I've already made an ISO of the game so perhaps I'd be best to use TeamViewer File Transfer to put the file on her computer, then install something like ImgBurn on her machine and use that to burn the ISO onto a disk?

We are both using TeamViewer10 on Windows 8.1 laptops.

Hi Rhino, I'm a newbie here, but my common sense tells me that if you use file transfer to transfer the ISO to the remote computer, you can then use any mounting software (Windows, Poweriso, etc) to install that software remotely.

How would I do it with Windows? I'm assuming I'd just install something like ImgBurn on the remote computer, transfer the ISO file to the remote computer, then use ImgBurn to create a CD on the remote computer. The remote user (my mother) would have to put a blank CD in the  DVD/CD burner and I could do the rest via TeamViewer. Then, once the CD is burned, I could just click on the CD image in File Explorer to launch the CD. Then just install the CD as if it were the original CD in her computer.

Or is there an easier way?

Hi Rhino, no need to do all that. Much simpler. Once the ISO is transferred to the remote PC, if she has Win 7 or 8 you can directly mount it to a drive without having to burn a physical DVD or CD.To mount it right click on the ISO file and select "Mount" or "Open with File Explorer". Once mounted you open the drive where it's mounted and execute the install file. If the OS does not have a mounting option you can always mount the ISO with a 3rd party tool like PowerISO, Daemon, etc.

A belated thanks for that information, Perseid! I'll give that a try. That would certainly be more convenient than creating a CD on the remote computer.
