Tray icon on Windows startup - only one PC
« on: July 21, 2015, 12:32:55 PM »
Hi all,

New to Teamviewer, but love it, great product.

I've set up Windows 7 PCs on my network, all using TeamViewer, all with exactly the same config.

They are all set to start TeamViewer when Windows starts.  They all do this successfully, but one of the machines has a tray icon (i.e. notification icon) showing after booting, while the others don't.  I would like them all to have the tray icon showing so that I easily know if TeamViewer is running or not.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Nick

Try the unattended host install as well / instead

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.  I completely uninstalled (including removing settings) and re-installed as unattended host.  However, the icon still remains.

Sorry, did you want the icon on those without it, or did you want the icon removed from the one?

It's a good question - I wanted either solution as long as the computers were consistent.

I worked out what was happening in the end:

A lot of my machines are headless and I connect through Windows RDP.  When these machines are rebooted, I connect to them using RDP and this logs into the account I am connecting to.  When this happens (i.e. the first login to the machine after reboot/fresh start is through RDP), the TeamViewer icon never appears.  Also, while I am logged in through RDP, I can't connect either.

If I reboot the machine, but login the first time through TeamViewer (NOT RDP) then the icon appears as normal.

Problem solved :)

Thanks for the replies - much appreciated.
