Team Viewer Host Deployment
« on: July 23, 2015, 08:16:46 AM »
Good Morning everyone,
First time poster here with (what I hope) is a pretty simple question. I work for a medium sized IT company and we handle a ton of managed IT clients. We use Team Viewer as our primary means to remote into customers along with LabTech. My question is this; what is the easiest way to create a deploy-able install of Team Viewer Host that will automatically assign the target computer to our company.

Right now we are installing the host and using a remote connection to assign the computer to our account at a later date. The problem with this is the credentials and verification information is being maintained by our lead system admin; it wastes a lot of time waiting for him to become available to put in his credentials and security code from the app.

To take this one step further would it be possible to create a deploy-able package for each customer so that when we install the host file for that specific customer it automatically assigns them to our company and assigns them to the correct company folder in Team Viewer.

I will be looking around the forums/website but I thought I would ask and see if I can get an answer here quicker as my time is sparse and I only have time in between tasks to check briefly. This would really help to streamline our process and with the ability to assign policies the instant we deploy the host instead of sometimes days later.

Thanks for reading and I look forward to your responses,
 Dan

P.s. Have the admins here considered activating the Tapatalk plugin for us smartphone addicts?

Very good subject.
Remember, this is a user run and supported forum, so many times the answers may not me readily available.
My suggestion is perhaps while you wait here for and answer is to post directly to the teamviewer Facebook page and or start a direct support ticket.
If you do get a response( which you should as you are paying customer) respond back here with the resolution.

Thank you for the information, I actually hadn't even noticed I wasn't on the normal Team Viewer page in, in my haste.

I will gladly give you what ever information I find out in the meantime! I will need to wait for our sys admin with the credentials to get me into create a ticket so I am still open to suggestions in the interim.

The customisable host installer will auto assign them to your company...

You can set a group for auto install into.

This should be exactly what you need >> https://www.teamviewer.com/en/download/customdesign.aspx

This looks to be exactly what I am looking to do, I will have to have my admin login so I can download the deploy-able and test it out.

Thanks! I had seen this before but I wasn't sure if it assigned to a company or not, and not having the login credentials I am limited to my options when testing.

So just an update, the issue was resolved for me using the below mentioned link.

However even the custom team viewer host file doesn't install without still asking for the user to create a password. My hopes of a fully automated install are only available when using group policy and it still requires a weird registry file import that I wasn't comfortable doing at this time.

For the time being I was able to make a custom link with custom logos that installs to the host computer and assigns our company policy to it which locks it down and assigns it to a dummy group in our team viewer which we then move into the group it belongs too. If anyone has any questions on the process I would be happy to answer them.

Thanks for the help though guys!

I like the user entered passwords.

I have a different password per client

If a client install TV on 10 computers then they use the same password for each, and that password will only work for connections to that client.
If I lose the client, they can just change the password, and that password won't connections to my other clients computers.

Our goal would be to have an automated install for each customer, so their specific password would be stored in there specific installer. But part of the automated installer is that it assigns us as the admin which in turn assigns our policies. One of our policies blacklists everybody but us from accessing their teamviewer so if you for example; were to try to connect to their team viewer ID even with the correct password you would get denied access.
