Screen Resolution Issues
« on: August 10, 2015, 09:17:37 AM »
I'm trying to help my mother with laptop issues and I find I'm constantly struggling to find her Windows  task bar. It usually seems to be below the visible part of the screen. The only  way I  can figure out to make the task bar visible is to change the screen resolution via the TeamViewer settings so that it is something like 1280 x 680 or whatever the options are that are in that range. But if I try to install a  program in Windows 8.1 at that resolution, Windows bellyaches that the resolution needs to change to 1366x768 so that it can make the GUI visible. As soon as I do that, I lose the task bar again.

Is there some simple technique that I can use to resolve this issue so that I don't have to keep changing the screen resolution? For example, if there were another way to make the task bar visible in the same way I can get the Windows Start button by clicking on the Start button option of the TeamViewer menu, that would be satisfactory.  Or am I stuck with having to flip back and forth between different resolutions?

hover over the bottom of the screen, the task bar should appear
right click on it and de-select 'auto hide', then lock task bar
