Hi all,

First post here but I've been using TeamViewer for a few years now, always without a problem. I have a PC running Windows 10 Pro at a remote location (to control a telescope, cameras, etc remotely). Two days ago I switched on the PC, waited a minute and it popped up on my TeamViewer "Computers and Contacts" as "Online". I logged in and used it for a good number of hours without a hitch. Yesterday morning I logged in again (after waking up) and switched everything off - again, no problem at all.

Here's the issue now. Yesterday afternoon, about 12 hours later after I had last used it, I switched on the PC and my remote PC would never appear as "Online" under "Computers and Contacts". I tried rebooting it numerous times and nothing. The guy who works at the observatory connected a monitor to my PC over there to check it out and he says TeamViewer is saying "Not ready. Check your Internet connection" and the TeamViewer ID is not coming up, despite the Internet connection clearly being up and working flawlessly. Nothing over there has changed (e.g. router settings) and my personal Windows 10 Pro firewall is off for Private and Public networks. My connection to the network over there is purely via Ethernet and is set as a Private network in Windows 10 Pro.

Please keep in mind TeamViewer has worked flawlessly there for me since late March when I first set up my PC there. However, as from yesterday afternoon, it does not appear to connect to the TeamViewer server. Some friends of mine set up at the same place are also having the same issue so it isn't just my PC. We strongly suspect it is a TeamViewer server problem, as nothing over there has changed (literally), but we're unsure. We can't think of anything else really. The observatory is located near Badajoz in Spain.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give.

I have, yeah - I'm from Gibraltar. The famous "Rock of Gibraltar". :)

In all seriousness, I avoid any and all news of everything except gaming. So yeah, I missed this and almost everything else that happens in the world.

The question is, is this related because it may not necessarily be related as it's circumstantial.

Same problem for me except it is just one computer that refuses to work.  I can connect to other computers with no problems.  No proxy and no firewall issues.  Just stopped working for no apparent reason.

Hello Gib007, crr and Kadeschs,

We experienced an outage on Wednesday and because of this there still may be some issues in some regions. It may take some time until all regions are back to regular service. You will find more info on the outage here: http://www.teamviewer.com/en/company/press/statement-on-service-outage/

Regarding the concerns related to your accounts, protecting your personal data is at the very core of everything we do. As you may already know, there have been unprecedented large scale data thefts on popular social media platforms and other web service providers.

Unfortunately, credentials stolen in these external breaches have been used to access TeamViewer accounts. We are appalled by the behavior of these cyber criminals. It is important to underscore that TeamViewer account authentication uses the Secure Remote Password protocol, and therefore does not store any password-equivalent data. Please find more information on this matter in our official statement: https://www.teamviewer.com/en/company/press/teamviewer-launches-trusted-devices-and-data-integrity/

Best regards,
Fabian – TeamViewer

Thank you for the response.  However, this started happening yesterday, not Wednesday.  All my computers are in the same region.

Hi Kadeschs,

The DoS attack on Wednesday may still cause some issues. If you still experience issues tomorrow, please contact our support department so that we can look into this: https://www.teamviewer.com/en/support/contact/submit-a-ticket/.

Thanks in advance and apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Best,
