Copying files? From Computer A to B while working from C?

Hi, I'm considering TeamViewer as a solution to some access problems in my home network.  I have a mixed OS environment - Win7, WinXP, Win2K, and Mint Linux (a Debian derivative).

My problem is that the Linux server (a NAS box, basically) is in the basement and hard to get to.  I need to periodically transfer files from it to various computers upstairs.  In the past, this has been done from a WinXP machine using Samba, and it worked fine most of the time.

However, since upgrading the "master" computer to Win7, networking has been, shall we say, inconsistent.  Most of the time, the Win7 machine can't see the other computers on the network.  (Well, I can see one other Win7 machine most of the time, but never the other Win7 machine.  The Linux box and the XP and 2K machines are always invisible.)

I've been pulling my hair out trying to troubleshoot this for MONTHS.  I have found numerous complaints about this on the Web, but no reliable solutions.  (Yes, I've tried quite a few.)

I can ping the other computers by IP address (but not computer name), so it's not a network problem.  It seems to be either some bug in the Win7 networking or once again, MS knows what's best for us and so is providing "security" that I don't want and can't disable.

I'm hoping I can use TV to get around the Windoze problem.  My thought is to install TV on all the boxes, and run it as a service on most of them.  Then, from the master computer (let's call it MC) I want to TV into an XP computer, and from its desktop open a TV session into the Linux box, and copy the files from the NAS to the XP computer.

WRINKLE:  A user may be logged in to the XP box when I try to do this.  Via TV, I want to log him out, then log back in as admin, THEN initiate the TV session into the NAS, copy the file, then log out and let him log back in.  (All with the user's cooperation, of course.)

OR, can I just open a TV session from the MC into the NAS, another one into the WinXP box, and then drag and drop between them?

Is this something I can do with TV?
