How do I switch sides back and forth between host & remote?
« on: March 23, 2013, 09:44:24 PM »
When I use the 'Remote Control' to 'Connect to Partner' and have a session established, I know how to use the 4.1 Remote Control windows option 'Action'/'Switch sides with partner', but can't find a way to get sessions 'switched back' from my end.  Is that possible, or am I dependent on the 'partner' doing that?  Terminology is confusing, because I suppose I am now the 'partner'.
Thanks

My tests show that it is reliant on the partner doing that from their end.

I guess that the point of switch sides is that ...
Well actually, I'm not really sure what the point is. I can't see that I'd ever use it. I can use meeting, or run a demonstration, or control a remote computer. Not sure about switch sides, unless the person who needs help has a dodgy internet connection perhaps, and connects first then you swap.

You've just 'switched sides' to me, matt, rorscha.  I'm now running the show.

That's what switching is for - when your having a 'conversation' and someone helps, then someone at the remote side wants to make a point or demonstrate something.
When the matter is explained,  control is handed back to the helper.

That's my understanding of two sides participating in an exchange of ideas.  Reasonable?

And, yes, matt, the 'switch back' needs to be executed by the other side; the side that has control at the time.
