Teamviewer 8 *really* buggy in linux
« on: April 08, 2013, 11:56:23 AM »
Hi...

I use TeamViewer extensively, and due to some upgrades at home I've needed to move to Teamviewer 8.

However, with the new key passthrough stuff that has been added it is **really** buggy to use in Linux.  I've been forced to do things like change to a text virtual terminal to get TeamViewer windows to respond to clicks again.  Also it just seems to crash in Linux quite a bit in general.

Is there a new release on the way that is going to fix this?  It's fairly hard to do even some of the most basic tasks.

I am also running into some issues. ???

I had no problem starting and stopping sessions remotely or via lan to my new linux box the first day I installed it (v8 on all machines) but for some reason it has decided to stop accepting log-in attempts.  I get the "connecting" dialog but it never connects.  Connecting out to any machine from the linux box works great.

Confused why it worked for a day and now won't.  I hope they fix the issues.  This software is really pretty awesome and saves me so much leg work when I am trying to tweak my network machines.

Every time I open a root terminal in Debian, TeamViewer stops responding. I have to kill the session and restart. Works fine after restarting the session. Using Linux v8.0.17147 and Windows v8.0.18051.

I haven't had time to come back to the forums for a while so I never go around to adding to my thread here.

What I have found is that on my linux machines (both virtual and actual running on hardware), the pattern is that I get the "Connecting..." error when Teamviewer is not actually running on the desktop.  It's easy to keep that running all the time (that's what you had to do with Teamviewer 7), and it points to problems with the new daemon.  It just can't authenticate when only the new daemon is running though it shows as online.  That's a real and verifiable bug.

:-\ It's a pain in the ass. I had no problems at all with version 7. Can't connect at all with version 8.

I use Ubuntu 11.10, 12.04 and 13.04 and Teamviewer 8 does not connect between computers. It is buggy and I've opened a ticket on this and the reps assure me they are looking at this. I followed all the trials and suggestions they offered and nothing worked. That was over 2 months ago. So I've dropped back to version 7 on all my computers and the ones I support. Other wise Teamviewer is a great piece of software.

cheers

And is teamviewer 7 working without any troubles? I'm using temaviewer 6 and it sometimes runs for weeks, sometimes only for days until no ceonnection is possible again.
