Mac - Teamviewer not Connecting
« on: December 04, 2013, 03:29:09 AM »
I have a new Mac (Mac OS X 10.8.5) (purchased within the last 3 weeks) with Teamviewer 8 and have had no issues connecting the Mac to a PC until recently. I have recently installed updates for my computer and not sure if that has anything to do with it, however now I cannot connect onto Teamviewer - it just says connecting and nothing happens past that point, then the program freezes and I have to Force Quit Teamviewer.  I tried reinstalling Teamviewer several times but still no luck. Last night I also tried installing Teamviewer 9 but no luck there either. How do I fix this? On a side note I have Teamviewer on my iPhone and can connect through the PC that way with no problems (I have not done the software updates on my iPhone). Thank you for your help!

I have a variant on that problem. I use a Mac 10.6.8 to control a remote Win7 PC with TeamViewer. It's worked wonderfully for many years. So today I do a regular "update" of the PC TeamViewer. That's easy. TeamViewer disconnects while it loads the update, and then restarts. I then command a link to the PC from my Mac, and I get an error message -- "Your partner uses a newer version of TeamViewer. You need to update TeamViewer to establish a connection." Um, OK. So I command an update for TeamViewer on my Mac, and I am told that "You're up-to-date! TeamViewer 8.0.20942 is currently the newest version available."

So I'm stuck. I have no connection, and no idea what I need to do to establish one. Am I supposed to understand that the latest Win update won't talk to the latest mac update??
Help!

Heh. Well, that was simple. I just downloaded Mac v9. Now everything works. OK, I probably should have done this v8-to-v9 earlier, though I thought v9 was still Beta on the Mac. It doesn't appear to be Beta anymore.

That being the case, why in the @#$%^&* is TeamViewer v8 on the Mac telling me that "TeamViewer 8.0.20942 is currently the newest version available"?? It most certainly is not and, in fact, is incompatible with the PC version that a PC will automatically upgrade to.

So now I have 9.0.24322 on my Win7 system, and 9.0.24337 on my Mac.

This just happened to me... over a year after this post. Old Mac still says TeamViewer is at the newest version, but it can't connect to my newer computers because the versions is too old...

My mac is on TV 9.0.32669 and my pc is on 10, I keep getting the error message that the pc is on a newer version, but I can't upgrade the mac to TV 10 because I'm on OS 10.6.8 and TV 10 requires OS 10.7. What do I do???

If your PC TV is v10, and your Mac TV is stuck at v9 so you can't connect the latter to the former, your only option is to back off to v9 on the former. I on't think you have any other options. Should not have updated the PC to v10. I too am holding on to 10.6.8 (to preserve Adobe functionality) and I'm never going to be upgrading to v10, it seems.
