Unexpectedly Getting Prompted for Password
« on: February 03, 2014, 07:21:45 AM »
Hi everyone,

I've had my home computer in my TeamViewer account for ages.  It is configured for unattended access, I have been able to connect it from the 'Computers & Contacts' list without providing a password, no issues, ever since I started using TeamViewer.  I've been using TeamViewer since v6.

Suddenly, today - is it the TeamViewer 9 update? - I'm having to provide a password to connect!  I have no idea what it is - it's been too long.  This happens both from my Android and my work PC, which both always connected without prompting in the past.

What has changed please, and how do I get it back to where I can just connect with the stored password.

Thanks!
Sandra

you cant access your home computer?  Where are you trying to access it from?

can you access the home system? can you have someone access it?

Have someone open up teamviewer and tell you what the temporary password is.  Use that password to log in.
Then, on the remote system go into extras/options/security and reenter your "saved" password i n the password box, make sure "start with windows" is checked.

Ok, thanks for replying.  The computer shows up in TeamViewer as Online, so it's not a matter of the computer not running, or TeamViewer not running.

Sure, I can set the unattended password again, but I still wonder why it was lost/changed in the first place.  It looks like the upgrade to TeamViewer 9 from 8 lost or reset the existing unattended access password.  I certainly didn't go messing with it unprovoked.  :)

Thanks,
Sandra

it very well could have been the update.  Just re save the custom password on the affected machine and go from there.
Let us know if that works.

Yup, I confirmed that worked.  I've also updated the password in the Properties of the remembered partner, so it doesn't have to prompt each time.  Thanks!
