Hello to everybody,
about 2 weeks ago I installed the (then) last version of TeamViewer on my PC (Windows XP Home Edition/SP3) and at the same time installed TeamViewer Host on a remote PC (Windows
. I guess the releases of TeamViewer and TeamViewer Host haven't changed since then.
[MY COMPUTER (XP Home SP3+TeamViewer)] <===> [REMOTE COMPUTER (Windows 8+TeamViewer Host)]
I wish to start by saying that I have already submitted a ticket to TeamViewer, but despite the great amount of details I provided, the answer I got was like a standard precompiled answer, absolutely useless and unrelated to the information I gave them.
The problem I'm experiencing is twofold.
In the first place, I cannot establish bidirectional audio contact with the remote computer.
It means that:
- the operator on the remote computer
can hear me
- I
can hear remote computer sounds (system sounds, audio being played)
BUT- I
can't hear remote operator talking in his microphone
I wish to specify that VoIP is selected on my side (of course), and if I open (through my TeamViewer), the audio settings in TeamViewer Host on the remote computer,
I can even SEE the green indicator band moving as the remote operator talks: I can't just hear him, but audio from his microphone is being picked up and encodedI cannot understand whether the issue is on my side, his side, or both.
The other problem is about accessing the webcam on the remote computer: I suspect that it can be somewhat related to the first issue.
During a TeamViewer session, the webcam on the other computer is not available. I mean that not only it isn't available by TeamViewer (with the result that we can't start a video session),
but it is unavailable also locally, for the remote operator. To put it clear.
TeamViewer Host is, of course, always running on the remote computer. While it is running but not connected (no session in progress) the webcam can be used through the usual applications. During a TeamViewer session, the webcam application usually displayed in the Windows START menu
does not even figure there. Not only, but if the remote operator tries to access the webcam through a different application, he gets an error message stating that "the webcam is being used by another application", which, I suspect, is TeamViewer Host.
This is all extremely annoying, because we have to stay on the phone during most sessions, and instead of hand drawing a sketch on a piece of paper and holding it in front of the webcam, we have to use the whiteboard, or MS Paint (much slower).
Any idea about how to fix it?...
Thank you in advance
