Anyone able to get VPN working thru DSL/cable routers
« on: March 21, 2016, 09:59:11 AM »
I tried to connect to my desktop in the office from home using a laptop and there are two DSL/cable modems in between (one in the office and one at home). I cannot get TeamViewer VPN to connect. However, when I am in the office, I can get TeamViewer VPN to connect (form laptop to desktop).

To debug the home to office connection, I tried many different configurations but was not able to get a VPN connection. I also tried disabling firewalls on the routers and computers. In addition, I tried other computers running Windows XP, Windows 7 and Windows 8.1. No luck.

Any suggestion on what else should I try?

Many Thanks!

Can you connect a VPN from Office to home??

My guess is a port block somewhere, possibly your ISP, possible at work...

I did not try to connect from office to home. Only from home to office. I should try it next time.

I updated my computers to TeamViewer 11. VPN suddenly connects without a glitch. I can drag and drop files to my local desktop and use File Explorer. One time, File Transfer just failed to work (never happened before). VPN just comes in handy.

There is another thing I like the VPN to do -- allow may to access a website hosted in the office. I tried to do add route on my home machine to forward the HTTP request to my office machine, but it did not work. Any idea on how to do this?
